Buying American ginseng powder from a Wisconsin farm
Our ginseng powder has one ingredient: whole American ginseng root (Panax quinquefolius) grown, dug and dried by our family in Edgar, Wisconsin, then finely ground. We have been farming there since 1953, we never blend in ginseng grown in Canada or Asia, and our harvest-lot records connect each order back to our crop.
Ground whole root, not an extract
A product labeled ginseng powder can be ground root or an extract. Ours is the whole root, ground fine, so it looks and tastes like the root itself and can leave natural sediment in thin liquids such as tea or water.
Pouch sizes
- 8 oz pouch: the easiest way to start.
- 16 oz pouch: a lower price per ounce, for kitchens that use powder often.
The size you select at checkout is the size that ships.
How to use ginseng powder
Stir it into a smoothie, tea, coffee, oatmeal or yogurt, or whisk it into soup and broth. Follow the directions on the current package label and adjust recipe amounts to taste. We don't convert household teaspoons to grams, because spoon size, packing and powder density vary.
Powder, tea bags or whole root?
Powder is the easiest form to blend into food and drinks. For a pre-portioned cup, choose ginseng tea bags. To see the root before you use it, shop dried whole root by age or bulk 5 lb and 10 lb orders, and compare the price per pound of every root and bag size.
Where to buy real Wisconsin ginseng powder
The name "American ginseng" describes the plant, not where it grew. It is also farmed in Canada and China. Wisconsin grows about 95% of the cultivated American ginseng in the United States. Before you buy, ask where the root was grown and whether the powder is ground root or an extract. Buying from the farm that grew the root answers both.
Storage and shipping
Keep the pouch sealed in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight. U.S. one-time orders of $50 or more ship free by standard shipping, straight from our farm in Edgar, Wisconsin.
