Blemish Mix details

Origin, order size, preparation, and storage.

Whole Wisconsin-grown American ginseng roots packed in a clear 5 lb or 10 lb bulk bag. Blemish Mix has more cosmetic variation than our age-graded whole-root options.

What blemish means

Expect mixed sizes and shapes, surface marks, color variation, and some broken fine rootlets. These are appearance differences; the listing is not sold as a specific cultivation age.

What you receive

Choose a 5 lb or 10 lb clear bulk bag. The weight selected at checkout is the weight that ships.

How to use it

Carefully slice the dried root before steeping or cooking. Add slices to hot water, soup, broth, or congee and adjust preparation to taste.

Compare whole-root options

Choose an age-graded whole root if presentation matters more than bulk value. Choose slices if you do not want to cut whole roots at home.

Storage

Keep the bag sealed in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight.

Safety: Ask a qualified healthcare professional before use if you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or managing a health condition.

Earlier this year, I was searching for great jingseng product and ran into this website. I bought this blemish mix pack for chicken soup stew, not for gifting others. The product arrived as my expectation. I normally just used 5 to 6 pieces of jingseng roots and some slices of raw ginger roots to cook chicken drumsticks soup. (I used pressure cooker. I scrubbed clean the roots well, and pressure cooked once. When the safety valve released as the content went cooling off, I took out the roots and using a knife to slice them into thin pieces and put back into the pot and pressure cooked the 2nd time to make sure all the essence of jingseng cooked into soup.) It's very potent and with strong fragrance. I had given some samples and informed my friends to go to this company online to shop. I also believed it would be great that a group of friends or family members can buy a 5 lb bag and divide it if they think they couldn't consume the bulk soon. The photo with my hand shows the bag size and thickness of the blemish roots look. It's a great product. I highly recommend this product.

I ordered this ginseng to bring back to China because my family loves ginseng. ❤️

We used to buy from a well-known ginseng shop, but after learning that much of their ginseng is also purchased from farmers, I realized I would rather buy directly from local farmers who truly care about what they grow.

I’m very satisfied with this ginseng! My family said it smells wonderful, the quality is good, and the price is very reasonable—especially for families like ours who use ginseng regularly. Instead of paying such high prices elsewhere for a similar product, I’m happy to support the hardworking local farmers directly.

I will definitely continue buying ginseng from them. Great quality, fair price, and most importantly, supporting local farmers and their families! ❤️🌱

Much of it is from 2-3 years old

I have been using for many years from korea and Kentucky

Hi Kyong, thank you for the feedback, but we’d like to clarify a few important facts for our customers. Our Wisconsin American Ginseng roots including our Blemish Mix are harvested strictly at 4 and 5 years of age, never 2–3 years.

Additionally, authentic Wisconsin American Ginseng (Panax quinquefolius) has completely different root characteristics, growing standards, and flavor profiles compared to Asian ginseng from Korea or wild-simulated varieties from Kentucky.

If you have any questions about our harvest methods or grading standards, please reach out to our team directly. We're always happy to help!

Love love love this high quality ginseng. We have been making tea every day since receiving our overnight shipment (free shipping!). I am absolutely sold on Heil Ginseng. We feel good purchasing USA grown ginseng from a USA business. Will continue to support this great company. Also, their ginseng is affordable!
