What the age means

5-year describes cultivation time. Root shape, size, color, crown, and branching vary naturally, and appearance can overlap between ages.

How to use it

Carefully slice the dried root before steeping or cooking. Add thin slices to hot water, soup, broth, or congee and adjust the amount and time to taste.

The American ginseng has a rich, natural aroma and a very authentic taste. It’s quite firm and hard to cut when dry, but I actually think that’s a good sign of its quality. Overall, I’m very happy with it—the flavor is excellent and the quality feels great. Highly recommend!

I purchased the 5-Year bag and am very pleased with the quality. The roots are well-formed and nicely packaged, with a natural ginseng aroma and a mild, slightly bitter taste when brewed. Overall, it seems fresh and high quality, and it’s convenient to use for making tea

I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect but the roots and the tea taste pleasantly earthy and truly pack an energy punch without the caffeine. The tea bags as super easy (though I would suggest a longer string for bigger mugs). Because the whole root is so dry and hard, I usually soak it and then cut it once soft, which happens more quickly than I’d guess (a few hours/half a day?). Now I’m excited to using it in new ways!

Great tasting, fresh ginsing. I haven't tried local growers before because I was unsure how authentic the product would be. I'm very pleased with this product which is high quality.

We bought 10 lb of the 5 year old ginseng root to give out as gifts from Heil, since this is the best deal among all the websites on the Ginseng Board of Wisconsin (I literally checked store by store at that time). The roots were beyond our expectations. They are big, thick, and very wrinkled (which I read means they were nicely dried). But what surprised me even more was their customer service. Due to two consecutive major storms here in Hawaii, shipping was significantly delayed, and I was concerned about not receiving them before our flight. They responded promptly to resolve the issues perfectly. Thank you very much, Colton and the team. And yes, I will shop here again.
